You never found really what to do. Not a hint – never a clue
You kept searching but you never knew
Toss it out into the sea

One day you thought you heard her sigh. Saw her features in the sky
Now she’s gone  – never know why
Toss it out into the sea

Think hard as you rehearse those words. Read them aloud to ocean birds
Under breath to strangers – never overheard
Toss it out into the sea

Half a mile from deserted pier. Out of desperation – out of fear
Seemed so far but oh so near
Toss it out into the sea

Lick a pencil and jot it down. Sign hopeless message with a frown
Stuff it in a bottle that you’ve found
Toss it out into the sea

So go ahead – finish up that note. Swallow up that lump that sits in your throat
Watch is pass the breakers – watch it float
Toss it out into the sea
